Abstract
An Ecological Investigation On Sesamum Indicum L. Was Undertaken To Evaluate Biomass Production And Productivity Pattern Under Gaya Agro-climate, Bihar. Field Work Was Executed In Kharif Season 2023-24 At Three Locations - Sherghati Upland, Barachatti Midland And Bodh Gaya Lowland.Three Cultivars Krishna, T-78 And RT-351 Were Evaluated At 15 Days Interval From Germination To Maturity. Germination Potential Was Maximum In RT-351 (88.4%) Followed By Krishna (82.1%). Standing Dry Matter Showed Progressive Increase Till Harvest And Maximum Value 284.6 G/m2 Was Recorded In RT-351 At Site-III. Above Ground Parts Shared 82% Of Total Dry Matter And Below Ground 18%. Highest Net Primary Production 4.12 G/m2/day Was Noted During 45-60 Days After Sowing At Flowering Stage, Lowest 0.85 G/m2/day At Maturity. Seed Exhibited Highest Energy Value 6542 Kcal/g Compared To Leaf 4320 Kcal/g, Stem 4210 Kcal/g And Root 3980 Kcal/g. Accumulation Of NPK Was In Order Seed > Leaf > Stem > Root With Maximum N 3.42%, P 0.82%, K 0.91% In Seed. Present Study Revealed Suitability Of Gaya Climate For Sesame And Superiority Of RT-351 For Higher Biomass And Oil Yield In Magadh Region.
